As a child, Judith Copeland was always painting and drawing. She credits her high school teacher for setting her on her way to art. Four years of high school and two years of college gave Judith a lifetime of interest in art. After a period of no painting years, she started again with the timr to do so. While living in Texas she studied with many good teachers including Sandra Canavan, Wanda Caballero, and Liz Mannes. As part of the locak art leagues she participated in art shows and public showings, and attended workshops.
Judith's medium was oils, but now paints in heavy body acrylics in order to avoid the solvents and chemicals used in oils. She helped start a league in Louisiana called FACE(Fine Arts of Eunice) after moving here. FACE does two large shows a year at the historic Liberty Theatre. They also show monthly in the public places of the town.
Judith has exhibited in Lafayette at the Bird Easal in River Ranch, and The Gathering at the Cottage several times. She has also entered many local Juried Art Competitions, and has place with blue and red ribbons in them. She paints almost any subject that is available. She takes many of her own pictures and works in her studio at her home.
