Glenda Atkinson was born in Joaquin, Texas. She moved to North Louisiana at the age of six, then relocated to Crowley, LA when she was sixteen.She has been married to Leroy for 48 years and has resided in the Ebenezer commuinity for 47 of those years. Glenda and her husband Leroy have 3 children and six grandchildren.
Glenda starting painting on clothing in 1987 and a few years later took a few lessons in "One Stroke" and Tole painting from Jean Oubre. She branched out from painting clothing to painting flowerpots, mailboxes, bottles, etc. All of this was done with acrylic paints. About 1995 she decided she wanted to paint on canvas, so she took lessons from Marilyn Shingleton and continued with lessons until Marilyn passed away in 2005. Glenda now takes lessons from local artist Robert Baxter.
Glenda won a first place ribbon in fabric painting. She loves to paint for herself and family. She enjoys painting with all mediums but prefers oils on canvas.
