Catherine Ledoux, a versatile artist, was born August 6, 1923 in New Olreans, Louisiana. A native of Eunice, LA for the past 50 years, she has enjoyed painting beautiful works of art since 1964. As a daughter of a painter, Catherine learned at an early age to appreciate the beauty of colors and thier many combinations. This south Louisiana artist has an obvious God given talent but also believes in studying her craft through art eduacation. She has studied through workshops and classes with Sammy Britt, Edger Whitney, Daniel Greene of North Salem and New York, and Henry Hensche of Cape Cod. Additionally, Catherine is a member of the Degas Pastel Society of New Orleans and the New Orleans Art Association.
Mrs. Ledoux has earned for herself an impressive set of credentials. She has won numerous awards and several commissions. Her painting, Potrait of a Lady, was chosen for inclusion in the First National Open Exhibition of the Degas Pastel Society in New Orleans. Potrait od a Lady, one of 82 paintings chosen from a field of 28 submissions, also won an award. The painting went on to receive a total of 6 awards at varios showings, some of which included Best of Show and a Third Place in the Edgewater Art Show held in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Some of the honors Catherine's paintings have received include: Accepted for Inclusion in the Louisiana Associated Women in the Arts, a juried competition held at the Louisiana State Archives in Baton Rouge; Two First Places and thwo Third Places in the Louisiana Older American Cultural Competition Exhibit held at Louisiana State University.
This accomplished South Louisiana artist truly enjoys creating works of beauty. She is versatile in many mediums: pastel, watercolor, oil, and charcoal.
